Season 5 of “RHONJ” began tonight, and we’re gonna try a different approach to blogging about the show this time around. We want Record readers who are fans of the Bravo reality series to let us know what you think was most striking (good or bad) about each episode. I’ll mention three things that struck me about the season opener, but I’d love to know what everyone else out there thought.

As Andy Cohen would say, here’s what….three things I’m thinking about right now:

1. I’m glad that the show acknowledged the devastation of Superstorm Sandy on the Jersey Shore, but all the talk about housewives and their friends having “second homes” down the Shore was a bit obnoxious. Plus, Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga seemed remarkably clueless about how water gets into homes during a major storm. And Joe Giudice’s noting that Sandy had at least created work for contractors was a bit much. Ditto, his wife’s saying, “God works in strange ways. Hurricane Sandy has brought a lot of opportunity.” Tell that to the folks who used to live in Ortley Beach.

2. Favorite scene: When Teresa takes 11-year-old Gia shopping for clothes and Gia says, “Do not do that squeaky voice. It irrates me so much.” Gia makes it clear that she’s no fan of leopard and that she wants no part of dressing the way her mother did in high school. (The pictures of very-big-haired Teresa were great.)

2.  Favorite quotes: “I don’t know if it’s this wine, but you’ve been looking better and better there, baby.” (Joe Giudice to Teresa). Also memorable was the subsequent exchange between those two, who decided that the song lyric goes like this: “We’re all just dust in the air.”

OK. Now it’s your turn.
